Spring !!!

For a short period of time this afternoon, it looked like spring had finally come.

Pick of the Day/Week/Month/Whatever

Back again from never being gone. Just to lazy to maintain this blog. Anyway, a new year has begon. Time to archive the remaining pictures. This is one was taken quite some time ago (October 19th) at the north harbor entrance at Scheveningen (NL). Keep thinking about what the reason could have been, lost a loved one at sea ? We’ll probably never know.

Pick of the day

Yes, again our non-regular regular highlight. This time it was a combination of fast wind and an even faster shutter. Depth-of-field could be better but it probably would have gotten blurred by the movement of the beast.

Sundown in the desert

Back again, after having spent a few days in Dubai. Sun, pool and sand :) One of the craziest things was our desert safari, not that special as it’s one of the must-dos in DXB.

So we went out there, approx 350 people in 70(!) 4×4s, to watch the sun set over the desert sand and have a small bbq party afterwards, which I left for half an hour to once again point the camera skywards. And yes I know there are places closer to home where you won’t have much light polution, but this gave some amazing photos.

Jump

It was an almost perfect autumn day, 14 C and 14 knots wind south/south-west. Ideal conditions also for kite surfers.

Statues of Barcelona

Spent last week in Barcelona. Took a lot of pictures, to the point my travel mate got annoyed with it. Nevertheless it was worth the time and it yielded quite a few good images

First series is now online, moved to B&W as it gave a lot of contrast and removed a lot of distracting noise.

Cat in black & white

More playing around with post processing

A bit of tweaking

I was experimenting a bit with low ISO/long shutter, which sometimes can give you amazing results like this ‘ghost’.
Image_0010Bear in mind this picture was not altered in any way, shape of form. It was sort of an accident, having the camera setup on 30″ shutter and the cat walking away at approx half exposure.

Tonight I was trying to recreate such a shot, but as they say: kids, animals and live demos. The cat only wiggled an ear instead of moving her ass out of the frame :) After a bit of processing, it sort of made a nice image though. Focus can still be slightly better, but one day I will get there and take the perfect picture.

Animal porn ?

Wonder what they are doing…

Last of the summer ?

A wonderfull sunny day today, might be one of the last good days of the summer. With the last fruits fighting to ripe in the last sunbeams, in the darker spots the mushrooms are already popping up.

Mistake of the day ?

A bar in Dublin had this sign out, pretty sure they sold something better then Heineken.

Welcome to Dublin :)

Once you come across this kind of scene, you’re pretty sure you made it.

Aryanna

Some ‘older’ photos, born on August 21th, the little girl was only 10 days old when I took these.

Trein in brand

En dan kijk je voor je de deur uit rent ’s ochtends toevallig niet naar de p2000 logger:

07:34:56 08-09-08 15 G BRAN Prio 1 DE Station DELFT VAN LEEUWENHOEKSINGEL 41 NS (Trein in brand: ja) 0775 0631 0636 0890 0656 Station OV

En dan sta je dus voor niets zo vroeg op het station, uiteindelijke schade viel mee. Slechts 30 minuten te laat op mijn afspraak.

Pic(k) of the day

What are they doing ?

Came across these people today at the station…looks like they carry a giant geigercounter. Most resonable explanation I can come up with is they are searching for a cable or manhole hidden under the pavement.

Any other suggestions, mail me :)

A day at the zoo

Might have been the last sunny weekend of this season, so I decided to spent sunday afternoon at Rotterdam Zoo, together with my trusty 5d. Hard to get some decent pictures though, when the view is not blocked by a fence, you get annoying reflections from the glas when somebdy behinds you flashes with his 10 dollar camera :).

Anyway back home with 418 images, probably 10 of them sort of ‘good’. Best series I got was a tiger chewing on some bone, unfortunately again some glare and reflections on the glas that seperated us.

More to come, so stay tuned…here is a little preview:

Ciconia ciconia

Or in plain english a white stork. Nothing special here, move along people. Or wait, it might be if you know where it was taken…

Right about here not the most rural place on earth, close to the port of Rotterdam and an airport. Almost extinct around 1960, with only 5 pairs left, they reintroduced the species, protected it and currently there are around 650 pairs in Holland. Seems this is one of those examples where it worked. Later on even a third one showed up, from the size and color it looked like a juvenile.

merelroze pleegt plagiaat

Lichtwagen calamiteit Berlagebrug

ca·la·mi·teit (dev; calamiteiten)
  1  grote ramp

First post !!!

Testing…one two three..is this thing on ? Testing…Hello… So there you are.

<drumroll>

Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to this soon to be famous place. Keep your eyes and browser windows open for what will be coming your way. It will be a a lot and as with most blogs, boring…
